The only known indigenous people of the
Americas to produce a written language were the Maya. The Mayan language group
is considered as one of the greatest documents and most Americans studied. The modern
languages of Mayan run down from Proto-Mayan, it is a language believed to have
been spoken for almost five thousand years ago. It has been partly restored
using the relative method.
