Lithogenous sediments are formed due to the weathering(wind, rain, freezing) process. This sediments consists consists of small particles of oceanic volcanoes and weathered particles as a result of ionic bond between the metals and silicate ions while biogenous sediments as the name suggests is as a result of insoluble remnants of past life such as both, teeth and shells. The main types of biogenous sediments are Calcareous (calcium carbonate) and siliceous(silica).
