- Commonly known as sac fungi, with over 64, 000 species. known as sac fungi ffrom the greek word "ascus" meaning sac. It has nonmotile spores which is defined as ascospores, and undergoes sexual reproduction. howeverm some of the species are asexual and does not form ascospores.
