The sentence that most clearly uses figurative language is C, that is, "the clouds shed their rain in bitterness". This is so because the clouds do not have volition in order to "shed their rain in bitterness". It simply rains and clouds cannot express any emotion when doing it. This can also be considered a case a of personification because a human trait has been assigned to an inanimate object (the clouds).
