Hey there!
We'll define "the number" as x. We know that "is" signifies an equals sign and therefore an equation, and we're going to be adding six to five times x. Therefore, we have:
5x + 6 = 26
Add -6 to both sides:
5x = 20
Divide both sides by 5 to get:
x = 4
So, 4 is the number.
