Sulfur hexafluoride cannot conduct electricity in solid form but in a gaseous dielectric medium. It is widely used for high-voltage circuit breakers and other electrical equipment when in gaseous state for under this pressure; it has much higher dielectric strength than air and dry nitrogen. Furthermore, this is a result of the gas high electronegativity and density.
