y = kx = 4*5 = 20
I guess that's the answer.  Took me a while to figure it out.

First, find the value of the constant k. You can do that by dividing x from both sides to get
[tex]k = \frac{y}{x} [/tex]
Then, input the known values of x and y into the expression to get
[tex]k = \frac{24}{6} = 4[/tex]
Now that we know the constant, plug in both k and the wanted value of x to get
[tex]y = 4(5) = 20[/tex]
The answer therefore is y = 20.
