Sure thing!

-9= -5x-3+(-x)

Get rid of parenthesis first.
-9=-5x-3-x      (a negative and positive equal a negative)

Add 3 to both sides.

-6= -5x-x
-6=-6x

Divide -6 on both sides.

x= 1

If you need more help, message me.
