Sandbars are defined as the area predominant soil type is sand. It is most commonly found on the sea coast, oceans as well as in rivers and streams.

They are formed by the combination of deposition and erosion process, erosion washes away the sand from the weathered rock and forms a sandbar. It causes waves to break, protecting the beach from further erosion.
