Amalia must be able to lose the primitive grasping reflex. She will then be able to grasp things, such as toys, and release items intentionally. Until she loses the primitive grasping reflex, she will continue to drop the toys or other items, such as a bottle, on the floor or in the playpen. This will usually occur around 7-10 months of age.
