This is a 45-45-90 triangle.
The ratio of the sides is
1: 1: sqrt(2)

The legs have length (24 ft)/(sqrt(2)

The legs are the base and height.

A = bh/2 = [(24 ft)/(sqrt(2)) * (24 ft)/(sqrt(2))]/2 = [(576 ft^2)/2]/2

A = 144 ft^2
