How do I use long division and make 76 1/2 as a terminating decimal?

1/2 is the same as 0.5 .

If you didn't remember that, you could calculate it.
The fraction ' 1/2 ' means " 1 divided by 2 ".
Do the division . . . divide  1  by  2, and you get  0.5 .

So ( 76 and 1/2 ) is the same as ' 76.5 '.  There's your terminating decimal.
