We know 1  dime = 10 pennies or 10 cents

We need to find what number of dimes is equal to 290 pennies

Let the number of dimes be x

10 times Number of dimes = 290

10 * x = 290

Divide by 10 on both sides

[tex]\frac{10x}{10} = \frac{290}{10}[/tex]

x = 29

The number of dimes = 29
