6x-2(x+4)=12
6x-2x-8=12
4x-8=12
    +8  +8
4x=20
/4   /4
x=5

I think that x=5. You add 2 to the 12, and subtract it from the -2, which evens that out. Then the rest is simple. Hope this helps! :)
