The coyote in Mesoamerican cultures can represent a trickster and to beware of the negative side of things but by its playfulness it also suggests one should lighten up about life and not take things so seriously. From personal experience with coyotes seeing them consisting of skin and bone after a hard winter in southern Canada makes one sympathetic to them but feeding them is not wise as they may bite you when you offer them food.
