{ x + y = 36
{ 2x - y = 6      ( Cancel + y - y = 0 )

x + 2x = 36 + 6
3x = 42
x = 42
       3
x = 14

Substitute x for 14 in one of the equations:

x + y = 36
14 + y = 36
y = 36 - 14
y = 22

Solution: { 14 , 22 }
