Plasmodium is the genus of parasites that are the main causes of malaria in the hosts. These parasites have two hosts, an insect parasite and a vertebrate parasite. Plasmodium live and reproduce in the parasite. In the vertebrate host, the parasite develops into a form that causes malaria in the host.
