Why is it so important to avoid logical fallacies in our arguments?

It is important to do this because if we have logical fallacies in our arguments, our arguments are less likely to be true, and won't convince anyone to our side who can see our fallacies. If we have logical fallacies, instead of convincing others of truth, we try to pass off a lie, and lie to ourselves.
