Answer:

you are correct.

if you multiply the base and height with 3

height: 3 * 4 = 12

base: 3 * 8 = 24

area = 1/2 * base * height = 1/2 * 24 * 12 = 144

change in dimensions: 3 * 1 =  * 3

change in area is (144/16) = 9
