-2x + y = 2..........(II)

replacing x=5-y in equation (II),.we get ...

-2(5-y)+y=2

-10+2y+y=2

or,3y=12

y=4

now.,,

putting y=4 in equation (I)

x+4=5

x=5-4

x=1

hence x=1
