Evaporation is an essential part of the water cycle because it allows large amounts of water to move from bodies of water on Earth up into the atmosphere. Water vapor in the atmosphere condenses into clouds, which move around the globe and release precipitation. If evaporation did not occur, there would be no such thing as a thunderstorm. Since storms use evaporated water to rain down, crops and plants would not get any water because there would be no storms.
