Why water is not a good solvent to separate a mixture that contains sugar ? what is a better solvent to be used ?

Sugar dissolves in water so water wouldn’t separate it from the solution but rather mix in with it as well. You could use alcohol to separate the mixture , removing the sugar and leaving the solvent it was mixed in behind. Typically, the process of distillation would be used to separate a dissolved solute from a solvent.
