For the 1st equation:
[tex]x = 20 - 144 \\ x = - 124[/tex]

For the second equation:
[tex] \sqrt{(3x+2)^2}= \sqrt{6} \\ 3x+2 = \sqrt{6}\\ 3x = \sqrt{6}-2\\ x = \frac{ \sqrt{6}-2 }{3} [/tex]
