3/2 + b = 7/4

First rewrite 3/2 to have the same denominator as 7/4:

3/2 x 2 = 6/4

Now you have 6/4 + b = 7/4

To find b subtract 6/4 from 7/4:

b = 7/4 - 6/4

b = 1/4
