k. e. = 1/2 mv^2

1/2 * 1000 * (5)^2

1/2 * 1000 * 25

12500 joules

k. e. = 1/2 mv^2

1/2 * 1000 * (10)^2

1/2 * 1000 * 100

change in k. e. = final - initial

50000 - 12500

= 37500 joules
