remember you can do anything to an equaiton as long as you do it to both sides

8=8p+13-3p
group like terms
8=8p-3p+13
add like terms
8=5p+13
minus 13 from both sides
8-13=5p+13-13
-5=5p+0
-5=5p
divide both sides by 5
