2,606 people died at WTC1 and WTC2 (the North and South Towers), but 2,977 people died in total counting those at the Pentagon and Flight 93.
That number is still rising as first responders and survivors are dealing with illnesses like cancer from the dust and asbestos and mental illnesses from the traumas they experienced
