When topics seem to shift randomly it becomes harder to be able to follow the main ideas and it could lead to wrong interpretations of the text. This kind of situation makes me feel uneasy and afraid of making mistakes.

Explanation:

A good strategy I found for such a situation is to take notes on a separate piece of paper, remarking on the most important ideas.
