The logarithm of a number to the base b of a certain number  is the exponent

to which the base b is raised to equal the given value.

So say we have  logb y = a, then

y = b^a

So if y = 0 then

0 = b^a

If b is a positive number then there is no value of a that makes y = 0.

for example y = b^0 = 1, y = b^1 = b  etc.
