Solve the system of equations. y = 6x - 27 y = 4x - 17

y=6x-27...........(1)
y=4x-17...........(2)

By comparison
6x-27=4x-17
=> 2x=10 => x=5
Substitute x=5 into (1)
y=6(5)-27=3
Check:
y=4(5)-17=3 as well.

Subtracting the two equations, we get;
0=2x-10
2x=10
x=5
Replacing for x in equation 2;
y=4(5)-17
y=20-17
y=3
