A town as a population of 16000 and grows at a rate of 4.5% every year. What will be the total population after 8 years, to the nearest whole number.

So first we must find the percentage increase for the first year with 16000 inhabitants.

16000 x 4.5% = 720

720 x 8 = 5760

16000 + 5760 = 21760

Nearest whole number = 22000
