on July 1 1776, resumed as planned after they delayed it on June 28 1776. they delayed the final vote until July 2.12 colonial delegates voted in favor with New York delegates abstaining it unsure of how their constituents would want them to vote. Jefferson edited it on July 4 and was adopted on that day but July 2 was forgotten.
