Or, [tex]x^{2}+ 14x - 3x - 42 = 0[/tex]

Or,  x (x + 14) - 3 (x + 14) = 0

Or,      (x + 14)   (x - 3 ) = 0

I.e       (x + 14 ) = 0    And  (x - 3 ) = 0

∴      x = 3   And    x = - 14       Answer
