take a peek at the fractions in the expression, hmmmm let's see the LCD of all fractions will just be 4, in this case there's one fraction only anyway, so let's multiply both sides by that LCD of 4 to do away with the denominators

[tex]\bf 6=\cfrac{a}{4}+2\implies \stackrel{\textit{multiplying both sides by }\stackrel{LCD}{4}}{4(6)=4\left( \cfrac{a}{4}+2 \right)}\implies 24=a+8\implies 16=a[/tex]
