S+1/4=-6-3/2

Find the common denominator for -6 which is 2

Pretend that -6 has a denominator which is one

S+1/4=-6/1-3/2

Multiply by 2 for -6/1

(-6)(2)=-12

1(2)=2

-12/2-3/2=-15/2

S+1/4=-15/2

Move +1/4 to the other side. Sign changes from +1/4 to -1/4.

S+1/4-1/4=-15/2-1/4

S=-15/2-1/4

Find the common denominator for -15/2 which is 4.

Multiply by 2 for -15/2.

(-15)(2)=-30

2(2)=4

S=-30/4-1/4

Answer: S= -31/4
