We can simplify the functon expression:

[tex] f(x) = x^2-6x+3x-1 = x^2-3x-1 [/tex]

To evaluate the function at [tex] x=-1 [/tex] we simply have to plug the desired value in the expression:

[tex] f(-1) = (-1)^2-3(-1)-1 = 1+3-1 = 3 [/tex]
