We are  given an angle as:

[tex]\dfrac{23\pi}{8}[/tex]

We can represent our angle as:

[tex]\dfrac{23\pi}{8}=3\pi-\dfrac{\pi}{8}[/tex]

( Since 2π completes one full cycle and π covers a half rotation of the circle and subtracting a unit that is less than π/2 will take our angle to the second quadrant)

So,clearly our angle will lie in the second quadrant.
