We can choose to multiply by any number, but I'll choose 2. 
53*2 = 106
4*2 = 8

106/8 = 53/4

To make a fraction equivalent to another you can mutiply birth sides or divide both sides, let's mutiply. 53/4 x 2 is 106/8 so 53/4 is = to 106/8.
