We are given that

points through which parabola is passing

(-1,1)  and (1,-3)

so, we have

x1=-1 ,y1=1

x2=1 , y2=-3

we can find average rate of change by using formula

[tex]A=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]

now, we can plug values

[tex]A=\frac{-3-1}{1+1}[/tex]

[tex]A=\frac{-4}{2}[/tex]

[tex]A=-2[/tex]

So, the average rate of change from -1 to 1 is -2...........Answer
