THE WESTERN FARMERS, who had been wanting to trade along the once disputed territory stood to gain the most from the 1795 Pinckney's treaty between Spain and the U.S.

The treaty settled the boundary disputes between the two countries, and allowed Americans (which included the western farmers) to travel freely along the Mississippi river, via the New Orleans Port.
