This is a tricky question - American has both progressed and digressed in its inclusiveness. It's has progressed because now we are have a very diverse population and there are programs in place to help minorities. However it has also digressed in its inclusiveness with our current president. Now, it muslims and hispanics are ostracized and harassed.
