Precipitation reaction

This occurs when solutions that have soluble salts are combined and it produces a solid insoluble salt. When a cation/anion pair is present when the two solutions/mixtures are combined, they attract each other and form a solid. The formation of the salt (or the precipitate) is the reason why the reaction is named as such.
