Arteries
The arteries are the blood vessels
that carry repeated loads of oxygen-rich blood from the heart to all parts of
the body. Arteries are muscular and elastic tubes that operate under high
pressure exerted by the pumping action of the heart. The largest artery is the
aorta while the arteries' smaller branches are called arterioles and
capillaries.
