following precautions in the laboratory:
i. a large piece of sodium metal is not
dropped into a beaker of water;
ii. water is not added to concentrated
sulphuric acid;
iii. unknown gas is not smelled with the
nostrils close to the mouth of the test tube
containing the gas;
iv. food is not eaten in the laboratory.
